Trailhead Middle Fork

From Aiden – Yesterday I hiked over 14 miles with 3’700 feet of elevation gain to the top of Cucamonga Peak. Along the way I saw a rattle snake and a ram. Seeing the ram was really rare and really cool. At the peak I drank ginger beer and enjoyed the view. There was no one else on the Middle Fork Trail, we had it to ourselves! But it was really steep and miserable! The main trail to the peak was hot and miserable but I got a lot of high fives and encouraging comments since I was the youngest person on the mountain. Next week I am going to do Baldy with my friend Landen.

From Alon – Middle Fork was a fun trail in that it was literally deserted! We had it entirely to ourselves. It is a little rougher than your typical SoCal trade route, but I thought that added to the wilderness experience. Water is flowing well at 3rd Crossing where we camped the first night. It’s flowing, but not much, at Commanche.
