Peak San Jacinto
Group Hiked with a Friend
Trailhead Marion Mountain

With one hike to go and after having invited her for a previous hike, my friend decided she wanted to hike San Jacinto Peak with me. We planned the hike out and set out before sunrise on Saturday morning. It was a perfect day for the hike, nice cool and cloudy. It was actually a bit too chilly in the morning. We got to the ranger station in Idyllwild and I got out to fill out the permit. My hands were really cold and I filled the permit out as quick as i could and jumped back in the car to turn on the heaters on the seats. By the time we got to the trailhead we were so comfortable we joked about driving all the way up the mountain instead. We got out and made our way up, warming up as we made our way up. We stopped halfway up and sat down to have a snack in the sun which felt really nice. We stayed there for a while and met another group of hikers also taking the Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge and talked for a while before we all continued back up the mountain. The clouds were low throughout the hike and we were able to capture numerous time-lapse videos of the clouds/fog rolling into the mountainside. We continued our way up until we finally reached the summit, by then were pretty beat and still had a few boulders to climb over to get to the top. When I climbed up and saw the valley I was amazed. I was not expecting the view that I got up there. I stared in awe at the view toward San Gorgonio and down to the Salton Sea, the clouds next to us only adding to the view. We took some photographs at the summit and i pulled out my stove and cooked some fettuccine Alfredo for us. We ate lunch and sat around for a bit before finally heading back down. We made it back down just before 5pm and made our way home. This was definitely my favorite hike from the 6-Pack!
