Peak San Bernardino
Group Rogue Juan
Trailhead Angelus Oaks

We started the hike at 7:30AM with a group of 6. The trail started off at a pretty steady incline. We all seemed to separate into groups of two going at different paces. Luckily we maintained phone reception pretty much the entire length of the hike and were able to check in with each other via text. The second leg of the hike flattened out quite a bit and we walked through lush green vegetation for a while. Then eventually we made it to the steady incline again. We passed by Washington Monument on the way up and decided to stop and check it out on our way back down. We reached the summit around 12:15PM. The clouds began to roll in and we decided it was time to head down. By the time we reached Washington Monument the rain began, then came the thunder, and then the hail. This was quite the adventure. At least it wasn’t as hot as we were expecting. As we hiked down we were realizing that we must have been laser focused on the summit, because nothing looked familiar. So much so, that at one point, we thought we had taken a wrong turn somewhere. Eventually we happened upon a junction sign and wheel barrow that we remembered seeing on the way hope. Phew! We made it back down to the trailhead by 4PM, soaked and tired but accomplished! The views were amazing and the trail was well kept. I will hike this trail again soon, and slow down a bit this time.
