Peak San Gorgonio

Trailhead Vivian Creek

San Gorgonio was definitely a challenge but a lot of fun. We followed the tips in the hike description and broke the hike into different sections which helped a lot. We opted to stay in San Bernardino the night before in hopes to squeeze in another hour of sleep. Around 4:30am, we made our way to the trailhead. We got to the parking around 5:30am, gathered ourselves in the dark and started our climb. It was still a bit dark which gave us a change to use our headlamps. We had no problem waking up and breaking a sweat while making it up that grueling mile of steep switchbacks. After a few breaks and lots of bug spray in the middle section, we continued to climbed up the last two sections. These last two sections are were hikers are made. It seemed like at every turn there was more uphills and a taller peak. We took our time, took a ton of mini breaks to catch our break and drank lots of water but we made it to the peak. It was so satisfying to hold that sign, have lunch with such great views and fight off the squirrels while we ate. After lunch, we made our way down, getting to our car around 6pm. Five down! One to go!
