Trailhead Chantry Flats

14 miles, 5,710 SF elevation, 4,200 elevation gain. Story: Started the hike at the Chantry Flats trailhead. As suggested, we took the detour to Sturtevant Falls, which was probably my favorite part of the hike. We had to wait here for about an hour to allows our friends to catch up to us (they were running late). Once our friends caught up, we were able to continue our hike to the “peak.” Several of us spilt up and we ended up at the top at different times having to search for each other. It was kind of an anticlimactic “summit.” The views were great, but knowing that people could just drive to the top makes it seem like you worked for nothing. I enjoyed to descent part of the hike more than the incline. It was much prettier, and going down is always better.
