Trailhead Old Mt Baldy Trail

We began our summit at 6AM from the Old Mt Baldy Trail (parked at the village church) and the trail was clear of snow for the first couple hours. Wind was very calm at lower elevation and minimal clouds. We finally reached the summit shortly after 2PM, at which point the wind was much stronger as a storm was approaching. Much of the snow beneath us was solid but we did find several areas of fresh snow, covering our legs knee high. We descended down Baldy Bowl – Ski Hut Trail, which was a very difficult and taxing trip down the mountain. We finally reached the bottom shortly after 6PM, at which point we hitched a ride back to Baldy Village to make our drive back home. Definitely a fun but difficult hike up this beast. Can’t wait to go back.
