Trailhead | Marker Flats |
The trail to the notch was open and relatively easy because it’s a fire road up from the base. Up at the notch, you can hit the restaurant to pit stop eat if you want and chat it up with other hikers. There is literally a rope at the top of the ridge before you step in the Devils Backbone that warns you that you stepping out of the boundaries of the ski area. Then the wind hits you and you have second thoughts. But be brace and safe and go forth! The trail is easy and when the snow covers the trail on the flats you have a line of site to Mount Baldy. We were so fortunate that the beautiful snow was there but just melted off the trail so it was safe. Would like to try it in the summer.
