Trailhead VIvian Creek

Got off to a slow start because I didn’t see my permit at first posted outside the Mill Creek Ranger Station. Since it wasn’t going to open until 8:00 am we went back into town for Starbucks. Next time we looked we found the permit and headed to the trail head, getting started a little after 8:00 am. The initial climb is steep but on good trail. Then there is a beautiful stretch along Vivian Creek before starting up the switchbacks. We could see traces of the old trail shown on the Topo map, but most of it was steep and overgrown. High Creek was running fast and cold and we filtered more water for the ascent and had lunch. Kept watching the cumulus clouds come and go over the peak, but weren’t concerned about over development. Got to the peak around 4:30 pm, so this was going to be a headlamp finish. It was 10:00 pm when we got back to the car.
