Trailhead Icehouse Canyon

This hike was a very challenging but beautiful hike that my husband and I completed together. We freaked out about whether or not there would be permits–don’t be like us, permits are a non-issue and are very easy to get at the trailhead. The hike up was extremely challenging, and there are parts of the trail that are very narrow with a steep drop-off to the side (not unlike Devil’s Backbone). We slowly, but surely, made our way to the top, where we took in the beautiful views and took a long break. The hike down was a lot easier/faster, although we wish we had a way to make our pace better–we’re much slower than we want to be. Also, our muscles were very fatigued and the last mile felt like it took forever! My husband ran out of water and we were able to fill up at a small creek on the way down—our first time using our water filter! Glad we have it! I would definitely hike this again!
