Trailhead Ice House Canyon Trailhead

We were greeted on Saturday morning with a full parking lot at 6:30am, and park down the hill about 1/2 mile. There was a ranger checking for permits about 100 years past where you pick up permits… glad we had ours! We ran in to people that we’d talked to a few weeks earlier on Mt Wilson, which made this more fun. Some bugs, not as bad as Wilson, but would recommend head nets for some portions of the trail, unless you enjoy snacking on small portions of protein as you hike.

This trail kicked out butts, it’s unrelenting steepness from the get-go was rough. The view at the top was fantastic. It was like a party up there with music playing and people screaming with happiness at having finally arrived!

It was a hot trip back down, and we both ran out of water with about 2 miles to go, so remember to take plenty of water. I had 3L and my hiking buddy, Chris, had 2L.
