Hi – Thanks Jeff for an awesome and informative site! We started a hiking group in March and are ready to do our 2016 calendar for our 25+ – could you provide suggestions for us for Jan/Feb hikes. we were Idyllwild over the weekend and though there was a bit of snow the weather was perfect. 🙂 we are scattered and meet anywhere in So Cal. THANKS AGAIN!

    Liz,

Thanks for the kind words and Happy Holidays!

First, let me ask what kind of hikes you’re looking for (length, climb, scenery, wintery-ness, etc.). Are you interested in snowshoeing or breaking out the microspikes and ice axe? Or are you looking mainly for dry ground or light snow and ice?

This is kind of considered the “off season” for a lot of hikers for that very reason, but if you give me some idea of what you’re looking for, I can suggest some great hikes.
