I’d like to hike San Bernardino this Saturday. Is it possible to get a day hike permit in time? Do I really need one?

Also, we were wanting to camp somewhere around the base Friday night before we head up early Saturday morning. Is it possible to get a permit to do that at such short notice as well? Could we do it without a permit?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Blake, give the Mill Creek Ranger Station a call at (909) 382-2882 and they can let you know. AFAIK there is no camping at the trailhead, but you could hike about 4 miles up to Columbine.
