No surprise, the ranger station isn’t picking up the last three times I called. Anyone know the situation with Manker Campground near the San Antonio and Cucamonga (Icehouse) trailheads? Webpage on USDA says closed for the season and no explanation why.

It’s open! Camped there last weekend to do Cucamonga Peak. Got there late Friday night, plenty of sites available. Even Sat night there were still a couple, it didn’t fill up, in spite of the parking lot and surrounding streets at the Icehouse trailhead being full at 7am on Saturday morning.

Leah–One other question. I recall seeing somewhere on the Angeles Forest site that storing food in your vehicle is sufficient. Just wanted to confirm this as that is contradictory to other national parks like Yosemite, etc. I suspect bear behavior may be different due to the lower density of people???
