We are planning to do Baldy as an overnight on the peak this weekend. Can anyone confirm if the water is flowing just past the hut, hoping to refill there vs. carrying all the water all the way up.
The water supply at the ski hut is pretty dependable. There was even water there at the height of the drought. I was there 5 months ago and am sure that there will still be plenty of water based on the snow we had this past winter.
I could have swore I had seen tents around the hut in the past, so was planning on camping there. Guess we’ll have to go a little further up the trail. Where are the camping regulations published?
Their website says, “Camping within 200′ of the Hut by permission only.” So far I haven’t been able to figure out how to get permission.
From what I can tell online a permit is not required to camp in that area of the forest, I haven’t been able to get a hold of a ranger to confirm that though, any tips?
