I'm an avid hiker and backpacker. My wife Joan and I are on the trails every weekend. I started SoCal Hiker to share my passion for outdoor adventure.

I've thru-hiked the entire John Muir Trail -- twice. I've also hiked the Trans-Catalina Trail, the Lost Coast Trail, and in 2015 I section hiked the entire ~270 mile Theodore Solomons Trail (and still managed to squeeze in the Six-Pack of Peaks).

I'm hiking an epic loop in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho in July 2022, then tackling the New England Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge in August, and a 350-mile self-supported bikepacking race called The Big Lonely in October (and whatever else I can squeeze in-between).

I'm also learning alpine skiing!
