Team SoCalHiker: Climb for Heroes

U.S. Marine Corps veteran Charlie Linville lost his leg to an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan. For most of us, losing a limb seems like a life-defining moment. But Linville won’t let the loss of a limb define who he is, or what he is capable of. He has his sights set on climbing Mt. Everest with the help of The Heroes Project.

The Heroes Project has helped veterans who have lost limbs scale the highest mountains on six continents. And you can help make this happen.

On Sunday, April 12, 2015 Team SoCalHiker will be climbing Mt. Baldy as part of the Climb for Heroes fundraiser. You can hike with us and alongside Linville while raising funds for The Heroes Project.

There are two ways you can help:

  • Register for Climb for Heroes, either as an individual or as part of Team SoCalHiker. You’ll be raising money for a great cause, and there will be food and prizes from the event sponsors. There will be camps setup along the route, so you can hike part of the trail or go all the way to the summit.
  • Contribute – If you can’t join us on the hike up Mt Baldy, chip in! Donations are tax-deductible. If you choose to help, consider helping one of the Team SoCalHiker members reach their $100 fundraising minimum.

The Climb for Heroes is just one week away. Join us!
