Trailhead Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to Sid Davis Trail

Equipped with our microspikes and snowshoes, we set our eyes on San Jacinto the moment we stepped off the tram at 9:00am. A warning from the ranger station determined our route as avalanche conditions were present on parts of the mountain. We opted for the Sid Davis Trail, a winter route, with some steep ascents which would prove extra fun on the descent! We approached the summit a little later than we would have liked given the slushy snow but were welcome to the top with absolutely perfect weather conditions. We enjoyed our lunch and began the trek back to the tram, again via the Sid Davis Trail. Steep descents equate to glissading in my mind and even though I may have ripped my pants, it was an excellent adventure. I’m happy to have had the company I did to cross my second six-pack-of-peak peak off the list. Two down, four to go!
