I had done Bighorn Peak a few weeks prior to this hike, so I know the Icehouse Canyon trail pretty well. When we arrived at Icehouse Saddle, the trail to Cucamonga Peak was snowed over and nowhere to be found. After about 20 minutes of the Park Ranger pleading with us not to continue with the hike to the peak, we pressed on. It was basically a backcountry snow hike that was reminiscent of The Revenant. But we made it. It was beautiful. I felt on top of the world.
