Seven Pines Trail is a very steep alternative to summit San Jacinto Peak. It is 13.8 miles, with 5000 feet of elevation gain. Much of the gain is on the trail before you get to the junction of Deer Springs Trail. The trail is maintained and marked, but doesn’t receive a lot of traffic, so it’s important to pay attention and have some navigation skills/tools when you take this trail. Hiking up wasn’t an issue, but it’s easy to lose the trail coming down. I love this way up to San Jacinto because I did not see another hiker until I got to the junction. It was a beautiful day, gentle wind, and not many people at the summit. There was plenty of water all the way up to Little Round Valley. It was a great way to finish the 2017 Six Pack of Peaks Challenge! WhooHoo! <3
