Peak Cucamonga Peak
Group N/A
Trailhead Icehouse

Well, Mother Nature decided she didn’t want me to summit San J on this particular day. I was thirty minutes away from meeting my group when I got the call to turn around, the hike was being canceled due to bad weather. I was so bummed but decided to go check out Cucamonga. I was so pleased to see better weather conditions at Cucamonga and opted to go on a solo hike. This is the only peak that I have done to this date completely on my own. I actually enjoyed being alone and even took a prolonged break along the way to do some badly needed stretching/yoga. The only negative part of this hike for me was the cold air on this day triggered my asthma but it wasn’t anything that my inhaler couldn’t handle. I am actually somewhat glad that my asthma flared up the way it did because it reminded me of my physical limitations and to research how to prepare for colder weather. Definitely will be looking into buying a high quality winter buff/mask and warm lightweight jacket this year.
