Trailhead Chantry Flats

Great Hike! My friends and I started around 8:05AM at Chantry Flats. The weather was beautiful on the way up, clear skies. As we got closer to the top around 1pm however, the clouds began rolling in. Out in the distance there was a sea of clouds with glimpses of the snow-capped mountains in the distance. On our way down, the clouds rolled in making the trail seem very eerie.
Overall, it was a great hike, physically challenging with all the switchbacks but fun nonetheless. Will be back on this trail another time.

  1. Nice photos, Kevin! I like the one of Sturtevant Falls especially.

Mt Wilson is much more enjoyable to hike this time of year. The temperatures are cooler (imagine the climb in HEAT!) and the views of the San Gabriel Mountains are even better when there’s snow on them.

    Happy Trails! 🙂

  2. Thanks Jeff!

I appreciate the compliments. I’m imagining it right now and I’m already saying no way Jose! Ha! Really looking forward to this trail during the spring though, especially after all this snow and rain.
Looking forward to taking on Cucamonga Peak soon as well, gotten to the saddle a few times but didn’t have proper gear/training for the snow.
