Trailhead Angelus Oaks

On the 6 month anniversary of my wife’s broken ankle we made it up and back! This is a great trail, mostly sandy and level. Water at Limber Pines. Beautiful views from the summit. We saw a king snake climbing down a tree!

  1. Congratulations for doing it. Keep trekking! Recovery depends on whether the break was weight bearing or not.

A couple of years ago, I unknowingly broke my fibula (non weight bearing) near the ankle but was able to walk and jog pain free. Over time the lower leg and ankle begin to increasing ache only at rest and at night. A month later, after jogging 50 miles the previous week in training for a marathon, xrays showed the fibula break. A month in the boot and after a 50 mile week of training and one week of rest, I completed the marathon (1st in my age group). Two months later I hiked 6000 ft, 10 mile climb and descent in Costa Rica. and 2 months after that, completed my annual Grand Canyon R2R2R hike.

I continue to run and hike and will complete the Six-Pack Peaks Challenge this year.
