Trailhead Angelus Oaks

The morning started with sunshine and beautiful weather. I can say that I truly loved this hike because it was more like an walk in the forest than an strenuous hike. I had a little bit of a hard time with my breathing because it was pretty humid. We just seemed to walk and talk and admire the scenery all the way up. When we got to the summit we sat down and my dad cooked a great meal: eggs, bacon, summer squash, and potatoes. I was having a little altitude sickness but I still enjoyed the meal! We hung out for almost 2 hours on the summit just relaxing, drinking, and eating. On our way back down we were making pretty good time…and then the rain came. We got hit by a down pour. I ended up needing a rain poncho to keep me and my gear dry. As we were walking down we went through two more down pours and we could hear some thunder. It was actually very beautiful! This was one of my favorite hikes, even though it was very long. I would love to go back and overnight it at the campground.
