There’s snow in them hills!

The hike started in warm sunny weather. We started off hiking to the falls. The streams were full and water was rushing down the mountain kicking up a light mist in the air. Further along up the trail we encountered green moss coating the rocks and ferns growing in every direction. Along the path water was flowing through the streams, we crossed from one side to the other balancing on rocks and logs. That really added some fun to our day. As we ascended the snow was lightly covering the ground and the air started to get chilly. We prepared for this, reading the logs of the previous hikers. Thank you! The advice for layering was a life saver. Getting to the top the snow was much thicker and it made the climb slick and in some places mushy. We enjoyed a nice lunch in the sun near the telescope and headed to the other side of the trail. Unfortunately it was closed due to a landslide, so we did an out and back. We took a few side trails and had a great time exploring. We made it back right after sunset, which left us a little light and perfect timing with the cold.
