Peak Mt Baldy
Group N/A
Trailhead Top of the notch

So… My gf and I remembered we had 5 more hikes to complete our challenge and our last (Wilson) was becoming a faint memory. It was time to get out. Plus we have a Spartan Race next week to prepare for. Baldy was already a familiar hike (I had hiked it for my first time last summer) and was the prime choice for this weekends high jinks. We get there and the weather was perfect! High 50s at the lift (yes, we take the lift, no shame) and after the ride we were ready to rock! The initial incline is a nice warm up. Its the incline shortly after that murdered my legs, in a good way. If thats a thing.
Anyway, once you get past the initial burn, the rest of the hike is beautiful! We stopped for a few pictures and took in the views. As we approached the backbone, the wind kicked up a little but the temp was still nice. Noticed the patches of snow and of course had to stop and play in one for a little bit. Then it was back to business as the peak was just over yonder. That last climb to the peak is a burner, too, mixed with the elevation, gives you a nice workout. We finally made it! We joined the rest of the hikers at the top (there were about a dozen others when we got up there). We took our pics, took pics of others and had our snacks. Then it was back down we go! Since we took a good number of pics on the way up, we decided to run back down. It was a nice trail run back, took a slower pace due to the number of people coming up at that time, but still worked up a good sweat. Once we reached the lift, we stopped at the restaurant and grabbed a bite to eat. The food was delicious. Didn’t get to try the beer on tap, maybe next time.
