Peak Mt Baldy
Group Team SoCalHiker
Trailhead Mt. Baldy parking area

Where do you start? To be a part of the Climb for Heroes event, being on Team SoCalHiker and bagging peak #3.

The start of this hike was crazy, steep and a ton of fellow hikers trying to make it up. The service road (trail) was nice and easy after the first 20 minute start, a stop at camp 1 to meet a couple of veterans and up we went. Funny thing about this hike was there was a imposed turn around time of 2pm, no matter where you were on the trail, talk about pressure. We arrived at camp #3 the start of Devil’s Backbone, only to be held up for 20+ minutes for safety reasons.

We arrived at high camp around 12:50 pm, were told it would take about a hour to summit, we arrived at summit with about 10 minutes to spare. Took a few photos, waited in line to get a photo at the marker and got to witness one of the veterans reach the summit, it was a great inspiration to witness.

Hike down was just the reverse, had to decide that in order to call it a full hike we skipped the chair lifts and hiked all the way to the start/finish line. Great hike, enjoyed meeting new hikers and some SoCal hiker teammates.
