I completed my first-ever Six-Peak of Peaks Challenge after summiting Mount San Gorgonio Peak this past weekend. I summited all the peaks in the order listed with the exception of Mount Baldy as my Peak Number Two, and Cucamonga Peak as Peak Number Three.
San G was no easy feat, and it really put my strength and endurance to the test. At just over 18.5 miles, it was the farthest I’ve hiked to date, and at 11,503 feet, the highest I’ve climbed to date. The views were amazing even though it was a bit hazy, and the amazing feeling of being on top of the highest point in Southern California will be an achievment I will always remember.
That first mile of the hike comes out blasting, and it put some stress on the wheels on the way back down after already racking up over 17 miles for the day. And that last 2.5 mile stretch to the summit was pretty intense as well. Everything in-between was pretty much as everyone said, in that the trail has an overall gradual climb to it. It’s a beautiful hike, but it will work you and Mount San Gorgonio will handsomely reward you once you reach the summit. Looking forward to next year’s challenge! Below are the hiking stats:
