The First of Many

Peak Mt Wilson
Group N/A
Trailhead Chantry Flats

The hike was beautiful. There were many bugs on the trail and honestly, I don’t think the bug repellent really helped. The last 2 miles to the summit were a series of switchbacks (and like everyone has probably read, these were killer!) Other than the last 2 miles or so, I felt like the trail was really nice and easy to follow. I did, however, have a detailed map to where we had to go which helped tremendously. We started our hike at 6 am and the weather was perfect. The trail was pretty much all shaded up from Chantry Flats. We descended through the old toll trail and that’s when we really felt the heat since shade was scarce. It took us about 7hrs to complete the hike! Highly recommend trekking poles for the way down if you suffer from bad knees or bad ankles.
