Trailhead Vivian Creek

When my alarm went off at 2:40am, I couldn’t believe that this was it. This was officially going to be the end of an amazing challenge I started months ago. I was excited and proud of what I was about to accomplish. We arrived at the trailhead parking at about 5am. It was pitch black. Luckily we had packed a couple of headlamps in case we needed them on our way back from the peak. As we began our hike, we were surprised at how steep the beginning of the trail was. However, we then realized that this was a good warm up for what was to come. The trail was easy to follow. The views were breathtaking all around. The weather was cool which made the hike enjoyable. A few hours in, at about 11am, we could see the top of the mountain. We were so close! The last part of the climb was extremely challenging though. The trail was so steep and the sun was beaming down at us. We started feeling the effects of high altitude but pushed through. We arrived at the peak at around 12:30pm. We experienced so much joy and pride knowing that we had made it. We had made it to the top of Southern California’s highest peak. I had officially completed the Six-Pack of Peaks challenge. A challenge that tested my perseverance, strength, and endurance. Now I’m ready for what’s next. I’m ready to continue challenging myself. Thank you, Jeff for creating such an amazing and rewarding experience!
