Trailhead Chantry Flats

My husband and I arrived to the parking lot at about 6:15 and snagged the very last parking spot …SCORE! We started out on the Chantry Flats path and quickly started making our way up. We decided to take the lower creek path on our way up and did some minor rock scrambling. We also came across a really angry swarm of bees and I was stung twice but my husband who was walking behind me didn’t get stung at all.
It was a really pretty trail and we were grateful for all the shade. The only part I had a really hard time with was ALL the BUGS/GNATS that kept flying in my face. It was freaking me out! I had to keep cleaning them out of my eyes (especially since i also broke my sunglasses on the trail… oops).
We reached the summit had a quick lunch and made our way down the sierra madre trail. Near the very end of the trail we stopped in our tracks to allow the rattlesnake to finish crossing directly in front of us.
All in all i had a great time. A day spent outside is always a good day and I can’t wait to do the next one!
