Peak San Gorgonio
Group With another challenger
Trailhead Vivian Creek

I am officially done with the Six Pack Challenge as well as the 3 Peak Challenge for this year. San Gorgonio is a beast! It’s one long steady climb to the roof of Southern California. To make things harder, this was my third peak in three days and the heat wave was in full force. This trail might be long and tough but the views at the top are incredible. Hiking it on a week day was also a wonderful treat as we only encountered eight other hikers and pretty much had the summit to ourselves for a great while. This last winter snow has left Vivian Creek flowing and it was such a relief from the heat to be able to dip my tired toes in this cold water. Nature’s cryotherapy! The trail is completely clear of snow but some stubborn patches remain and offer a welcome refreshing break. There are lots of bugs in the lower part of the trail and the trailhead is infested by mosquitoes. Bring bug repellent and don’t leave your car doors open.
