Trailhead Marion Mountain

I’ve been to Idyllwild many times and always was curious about how hard climbing to the top of it was. I had no idea it was so accessible! The hike was definitely one that felt long. First 2 miles were the worst, and then the rest of it was just a slow grind up the hill. This time around, I didn’t start to feel the altitude until about 10,200ft, which is a jump up from 8,000ft on Baldy. I might be getting used to it?
The trail was great though, I loved walking through all the different levels of the mountain – watching the trees change as we got higher. The weather was beautiful, and we were in shade all morning. We even had a nice cloud sit above us on the summit! While up there, we were surprised to find a ladybug nest in one of the trees. Hundreds of them were hanging how within the pine needles. There were also about a million other people on the summit, most of them must have come from the tram route because we didn’t see too many other hikers on our trail up the mountain. All in all, I love the climb. The summit had some of the most beautiful and unique views I’ve seen in my life. I’m definitely coming back here!
