I’ve fallen in love, and her name is San Jacinto; ironically, jacinto translates to hycinths in Spanish which coincidentally have toxic bulbs and dangerous to handle…just my luck. My partner (aka Wonder Woman) and I started at 6am (70deg) parked in the lot at trailhead and proceeded straight up for the next 5+ hours. Temps stayed cool and we refilled water supplies at the streams found between 8k and 9k feet.
The temp at the car was 90deg (4pm) so we escaped the heat a lovely restaurant in Idyllwild named The Gnome (half priced martini on the patio) while waiting for traffic back to SD to die down. Thanks Marci D for another fantastic hike.
