We attempted to start out at 5am until we had a staring contest in the car with what we thought was a mountain lion for about 20 minutes. Turned out it was a squirrel of some sort!! Watched the sunrise around 720am midhike. Sat and had a banana for breakfast at chantry flats where water was heavily flowing (beautiful!) the last two miles to to top was beautiful snow and ice where it got a bit difficult but was well worth it once we got to the top where we had beautiful views of downtown LA on one side and snowy mountains on the other side, head in the clouds!!
Your shot of the snow capped San Gabriel Mountains is beautiful! I love the snow, but like you said, it does make things more difficult.
