Peak San Gorgonio
Group My #adventurebuddy and two other crazy friends!
Trailhead Vivian Creek

This was the first overnight hike for me 🙂 We schlepped our packs up to the “halfway” camp (lies), and hung out on Saturday night.

We hit the trail to summit pretty early on Sunday and, luckily, caught a lot of shade going up. It got up to about 90 degrees at some points, so it was a HOT day!!! Although, we did manage to grab a snowball on the way up 😀 Summit took about 5 hours, and I’ve never been happier to see a pile of rocks in my entire life.

One in our group had bleeding heels so he turned around (or so we thought), but we met him coming back up after some clever sock-rigging as we were about a tenth of a mile down from the summit so we summited again!

It may have been a colossal mistake on my part to do Wilson –> Gorgonio, but I hope I never see this mountain again. It was brutal. The heat was almost unbearable going down. But there were some killer views and it was an awesome challenge for sure! The blisters on my heels will recover in time.

Now that the worst is over, onwards to the remaining 4!

  1. They were pretty annoying, but mostly manageable with spray/deet. Towards the end of the evening they got a lot worse, but we crashed out pretty early and escaped into our tents.
