Trailhead Mount Marion

Unlike the last few hikes, we finally had at least 5 hours!!! But getting to Mount Marion trailhead took forever. We live in Long Beach and the drive took nearly 2.5 hours and were exhausted from sitting in the car for so long! But we were pumped!!! Toni arrived much earlier than my sister and I. She started about 1 hour earlier than us.

The beginning of this trail was soooo steep to the point where I though to myself, “how I will get down later that day?” I thought the trail from Mount Marion was nice and isolated. There were not that many people on the trail this day. It was so difficult to focus on the beauty because of the tough climb. Once we got closer to the top and saw boulders, I was pumped, and thought I could quickly climb up and boy was I wrong. I began to feel light headed quickly and then slowed my pace. We met up with Toni who waited for about 45 minutes for us to take a group photo.

I think the top of San Jacinto Peak was my favorite of all six peaks. It was amazing to see a 360 view on a clear day. The colors and contrast of the desert and mountains on opposite sides were unbelievably beautiful. I will definately go back to summit this mountain again, but maybe from the tram this time because going down Mount Marion STEEEEP Trail was not fun!
