Trailhead Marian Mountain

Before the hike, my wife Denise and I decided to stay he entire weekend in Idyllwild. I reserved a 2 night stay (minimum) at the Creekstone Inn (www.creekstoneinn.com); a charming luxury Inn. We departed for Idyllwild Friday afternoon, visited the ranger station to pick up our permit and inquire about trail/water conditions, checked in to the Inn then driove to the trail head for a daylight view. Now for the hike; AWESOME!!! We left the trail head at 6:30 AM; enjoying ‘Tortoise and the Hare’ with other hikers/packers to Little Round Valley. Weather was cool with a nice breeze and cloud cover. At least 4 streams/springs to filter water; plenty of it. The peak was busy; mostly with hikers from Round Valley (Tram) A few hikers had done the ‘Cactus to Clouds’ trail; left Palm Springs about 2 a.m. Looking forward to our final accent of San Gorgonio via Vivian Creek. The CCC were doing some much needed trail repair; thumbs up to them for what they do to make our hikes safe and enjoyable.
