Trailhead Marion Mountain Trailhead

Started hike at about 0720. Cool at first, but with the immediate climbing, we were delayering in no time! We had terrific weather and trail conditions throughout this all-day adventure! Beautiful, mostly-shady ascent. Enjoyed a nice, relaxed pace to the summit ! Had a great experience exchanging greetings/conversation with other members of the hiking community. Enjoyed passing all of the amazing trees, rock formations, Little Round Valley Campground, and the stone hut! Limited crowds, with the tram closed for maintenance. Stunning views from the summit rewarded us for enduring all of the grueling switchbacks! Enjoyed a nice break at the summit, then increased our pace on the descent, in order to race daylight. The long descent (with the “do-over” of all of the trail obstacles) challenges your ankles and knees to the finish! We enjoyed a gorgeous sunset as our hike neared its completion! Woohoo…..five down………one-to-go!!!
