Trailhead San Bernardino Peak Trail

Sometimes hikes are about lessons, & this hike I was reminded of a few things. All my physical pain on the trail today was self inflicted and could have been avoided.
Lesson 1 You can’t hydrate with alcohol the day before the hike.
Lesson 2 You need more than 3 hours of sleep for a 17 mile hike.
Lesson 3 Never get complacent on a trail regardless of how easy you might think it is, the mountain will always win.
Lesson 4 Always be ready for an emergency. One person in our group went a few feet off the trail got turned around and lost the trail completely and got lost. Luckily we found each other quickly. But a reminder to myself how a beautiful day can turn ugly in an instant. Despite my lessons we all made it to the top and back down safely. With of course spectacular views along the way. It’s time for another glass of water!
