Brian and I started hiking at 4:10 a.m. Before reaching Manzanita Flats, we came across a couple who had summited for the sunrise. Brian and I reached the peak around 8:45 in the morning and hung around the summit for about 45 minutes while talking with a group of trail runners. The descent back down to the car took us a bit longer than expected because we had taken the wrong fork towards John’s Meadows and the South Fork trail. We reached our car just after 2:00pm and then proceeded to Hangar 24 for a celebratory beer for finishing the peak challenge.
