Peak San Bernardino
Group N/A
Trailhead Angelus Oaks

This hike realllly upped the ante. It was our first hike over 12 miles and it felt like it. The way up was pretty steady and challenging. The way down absolutely killed my legs. I had to take the next day off of work to recover. It could be because we took 6 hours to climb, and 3 to descend. We were FLYING.
Trail was great, it was nice and shaded for most of the way, with amazing views. The weather was perfectly mild with some breezes coming in intermittently. Near the summit, the altitude kicked in and slowed us down quite a bit. We’d learned to take it easy for the last half of these hikes instead of pushing ourselves too hard. Lots of breaks were had.
Getting to the summit was amazing. It wasn’t quite as exciting as Jacinto or Blady, and actually didn’t feel that high, but the views were worth it for sure. Seeing San G looming behind it was also sobering, knowing we’d be taking that beast down next.
