Monday, I bagged the 4th peak in my #sixpackofpeakschallenge
It was the most beautiful one of the 4 and definitely my favorite. I was so busy enjoying the scenery though I didn’t pace myself well at all and ended up taking a lot longer to summit than I expected. Once we summited that’s when the lightening and thunder started up, at almost 11,000 foot elevation this is a very scary thing so we bolted down that mountain. We hiked more that half way back in the rain. Luckily I was prepared with a rain jacket (and all the essentials had we gotten stuck). Mother Nature shows no mercy but offers amazing guidance. My hikes always teach me something about myself, hiking, and nature; today I was reminded preparation is key. Glad I came prepared. Aside from the rain the weather was perfect, the bugs weren’t biting and the views were incredible for the 16 mile journey. Two more peaks to go! #redhottothetop #badandboujee #hikingadventures #whenhikingislife #forceofnature #optoutside #gwhla

  1. You must have gone the same day I did to San B! Glad you got down safe – if you were one of the 4 we passed near the peak as we were on descent, our thoughts were with you as we trail ran down as much as we could! The rain was awesome – the pines smelled just amazing when we got to their shelter! Btw the ranger told me there were 2 lightning strikes and fire starts on San G from that storm; luckily they were put out fast. Congrats on your peak bag!

  2. Hi. I was one of two. I was with my bf. We saw the lightening strike when we are at the summit. The rain felt nice. It was a long hike. Thanks for the comments. Congrats to you too.
