Weather was nice going up, but started to get colder the higher we hiked. Cloudy all morning with a little bit of sun later in the day after the rain. It didn’t start raining until after we took pictures at the overlook, which worked out perfectly! However, we were told by another group that the USGS marker was that circle thing instead of where it really was near the cosmic cafe. The cafe was still closed for the winter, but they had coffee and hot chocolate which was much appreciated especially since it started raining by the time we got there. Another group also said that the trail to continue the loop was closed, so we turned around and went back down the same way. Will probably come back some time in the future when it’s sunny to see the USGS marker in person and complete the loop.
