Peak San Gorgonio
Group Solo
Trailhead Vivian Creek lower picnic area

Finished on the last day. Procrastination is a harsh word maybe. After three consecutive peaks in August, a death in the family and business travel postponed my planned hikes. On top of that a strained Achilles tendon in September put my hike plans in doubt. All the more sweet that I was able to achieve my goal and get the six pack!

About the hike. I picked up a permit the day before and was informed of the new process and that the permit is not required to be carried with you. I arrived around 6:30 am and found the parking lots full and gate locked so I parked at the bottom picnic lot. Started hiking around 7am. The Vivian Creek area is beautiful! I took two breaks no reached the summit around 12:30 pm. As the summit came into view, I became very excited that it was in my reach. The summit as quite windy, but incredible views in all directions. I brought my six pack shirt and put it on at the summit for the photo op and wore in for the hike down. I got numerous “I like your shirt” comments and ran into a handful of hikers that were on their way to the final summit of the six pack. The hike down was long as advertised. I heeded the advice and did not think about the distance – only observing the views and scenery. My total hike was 18.95 miles.
