Peak Mt Baldy
Group N/A
Trailhead Manker Flats

This hike was amazing! Preparing for a really hot day, we left San Diego at 3am to get to the trailhead by 5am. We started before sunrise and were about half-way up to Baldy Notch when the sun started peaking up. It was beautiful and very peaceful! We were surprised that it stayed relatively cool, even as the sun was rising! The trail is absolutely beautiful and well maintained with great views throughout the hike!

There were a couple people on the trail that had their anxiety peaked when the trail narrowed at the Devils Backbone. This was actually part of the trail I was looking forward to and it didn’t disappoint!

The last 750ft of elevation gain is done in a relatively short distance, so take your time and enjoy the views! The top of the mountain offers amazing views and tons of room to relax, take pictures and take a break before heading back down.

This has become my favorite hike in Socal so far and I cannot wait to do it again! Next time we go up, we plan on backpacking up so we can stay up there and catch sunrise and sunset!
