Peak San Gorgonio
Group N/A
Trailhead Vivan Creek

We did San Gorgonio as an overnight trip. Knowing that the Six Pack of Peaks challenge was coming to a close and that day hike permits were no longer required, we had a hunch that parking was going to be difficult on a Saturday. Luckily, getting there at 5:45am allows us to find the last two open spots closest to the trailhead.

We took off around 6:30a and made our way to Halfway. We got to camp some time after 8 and quickly setup and made our way to the peak. For whatever reason, I thought Halfway meant halfway between the trailhead and the summit, but I was definitely wrong about that after turning the corner after the set of switchbacks after High Creek camp.

Weather-wise, we couldn’t have asked for a nicer day. It was clear all the way to the summit and nice and cool. When we descended, it did get cold really fast. We ended up filling up water at High Creek and we started to cool down really fast. I’m so glad we chose to camp at Halfway rather than High Creek since the temperature was significantly warmer at the former.

We spent one night and broke camp early the next morning.
