Peak San Gorgonio
Group N/A
Trailhead Vivian Creek

Since this was the last hike of Six Pack of the peaks, I was excited but also sad. My right heel was hurting so I used the right leg in a wrong way and 3 miles into the hike I pulled the groin muscle. From that point on I was on one and half leg. After that, the hike was excruciating but I did not want to give and come back for another go. While it was painful to lift right leg and go up, I knew that if I can make it to the top, somehow coming downhill would not be a problem. And luckily I was right. I started the hike at 6.45 am, and after 8 hours of ordeal, I made it to the top and returned back to the parking at 8 pm. My legs were screaming.

On a side note, the weather was perfect and views were spectacular. I saw a deer on my way up and also on my way down. That made up for the lack of wildlife during other hikes.

During the hike, I kept asking myself – ‘Did I save the best for the last or worst for the last?’ Either way, I am a Six Pack of Peaks finisher in my first go. Here is my ranking for the peaks – Mt Baldy, Cucamonga, San Bernardino, Mt Wilson, San Jacinto and last but not least San Gorgonio.
