Peak Mt Baldy
Group Not a group but hiked with a friend
Trailhead Baldy Notch

After giving up on the long waiting line (45 mins) at Camp 3 on the May 21st Climb for Heroes, I’ve been itching to go back to Mt. Baldy.

My inhaler for my asthma didn’t arrive in time for my scheduled hike so it mentally affected me throughout the hike knowing I only had 9 puffs left in my tube. This and hiking with a friend who doesn’t do long hikes led us to start the hike from the top of the notch. But even the shorter hike was so challenging for me. More than the physical challenge on my body, it was the mental aspect of it that affected me greatly. Knowing I only had 3 inhaler puffs left and still had 1.5 miles to the summit, I told my friend I couldn’t go any further. I felt my chest was going to explode. After resting and more encouragement from my friend, we successfully reached the summit.

It might have taken us 6:20:00 but we made it. It was our first. Thanks to my friend who pushed and encouraged me! And… I still have 3 puffs left.
