Started the hike at 0630. Great weather conditions on the ascent. Hot in the exposed areas on the descent, but this was a small percentage of the hike. Had a great time on my inaugural peak hike! We diverted over to see the falls, and they were beautiful!! They were really flowing, and we beat the crowds! Loved all of the creek crossings and history of the trail and structures. We took it slow up the switchbacks and enjoyed a nice rest and refreshments at the Cosmic Cafe area. Met a group of kind and funny guys who joined us for the hike down. We did not have to park too far down the road, but I learned the valuable lesson of getting there earlier, if you want a space in the parking lot.
