My summit to San Gorgonio Peak and my first time backpacking .

Peak San Gorgonio
Group I hiked with a group of strangers and one friend😊
Trailhead Vivian Creek

This was by far my most memorable of the six. I had issues with my knee and didn’t think I would complete my last Peak . I was so bummed and felt a bit discouraged but a friend invited me to backpack it . I got ready for this backpacking trip in two days. I never set up a tent and for that matter I never roughed it outdoors . I was so determined to finish my final Peak that all doubts or fears were gone. We started bright and early hiked up 5 miles with 26 lbs. on my back to High Creek. We set up camp, filtered water and set out to summit. It was no easy task because I only slept a couple of hours. The last mile was the toughest but we did it. It was exhilarating to reach that summit. I did something I never thought possible at 52 years old. I summited the highest peak in SoCal, set up and slept in a tent alone and filtered water for the very first time. It changed something in my soul and I am so grateful for this challenge. I know when we put our minds to something and the challenge drowns out fear and doubt…,anything is possible 👊🏽 We slept and hiked back the 5 miles the next day. I didn’t sleep much but the experience was a nice in a lifetime adventure that I will never forget !!
